News for you... Apply to Work at Summer Camp
Parish Youth Ministry Survey - Fill it out! We are asking you to please take 10 minutes to fill out this important survey. Many youth and young adult ministers have requested information regarding salaries, job descriptions, events, and frequently used program resources. This survey aims to answer these questions by taking the temperature of where we are now in the Episcopal Church. We hope to prepare a report and send you the results as well as publish the report in time for General Convention 2009 so that we can inform the church of the status of youth ministries. We would like for people whose responsibilities include youth ministries and young adult ministries, paid or volunteer, to fill out this survey. This survey will show our strengths as well as where we need to work together to make changes. I appreciate your time and effort in filling out and returning this survey. There are several ways to return this survey (to A. Lummis at Hartford Seminary for processing) 1 Fill it out as a web-survey, by copying and pasting the address in your web browser: http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB22722JNF9VC or 2. Fill out the survey by clicking here, and return it by email, to Adair Lummis alummis@hartsem.edu or 3. Print out the survey by clicking here and put it in the regular postal mail addressed to: Research Office, Episcopal Church Center, 815 Second Avenue, New York, New York 10017.
This national movement began on Super Bowl Sunday in 1988 by a simple prayer spoken by Brad Smith, a S.C. pastor, “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat.” Young people have collected more than $33 million through the Souper Bowl of Caring. Every penny goes to local charities. On Super Bowl Sunday, youth collect donations in large soup pots and donate 100% of their collection to a local charity of their choice. Many also volunteer at their selected charity the day before the big game. By using this weekend as a time to help the hungry, youth are learning about the reality of hunger in their own neighborhoods and are turning one of the nation’s universal days of celebration and parties into an opportunity to care for those in need. This year, Super Bowl XLI is being played in South Florida, which is home to the City of Miami— America’s poorest big city. Congregations, schools, businesses and civic organizations are holding Souper Bowl of Caring collections throughout the host city. For more information, visit www.souperbowl.org.

A variety of other activities, including festivals, forums, workshops, sports/recreation, and free time round out the schedule.
